My painting is a script.
It is my means of expressing my revolts, my fears, my questions and, of course my enthusiasm for everything that I love and admire.
Like many people of my generation, I often get annoyed with current changes in the world and their social consequences. Progress, as I had dreamt it, is each day further away from the contemporary reality. Daily information hurts my principles and my ideals. This ill-being is at the origin of my creation.
Contemporary Art reflects the sadness of our time. It makes sense. The artist is a kind of sponge that captures the emotional mood of his time and returns it (sometimes without his knowledge) through the prism of his talent. Because I rely on mankind's ability to overcome worst situations (with patience...), I try to paint against this trend by providing humour, irreverence or derision. I like underlying the paradoxes of our time.
Even if some people consider my painting as old-fashioned, I claim the right to participate to the contemporary creation in the name of the topics I deal with and the way I illustrate them. My figurative style is a non-choice. I paint like that because this is my spontaneous way of painting and (at least till now) I do not wish to paint abstract. My pictorial references are wide and various, from the most classical to the most modern. I am only interested in beauty, power, evocation and skills that emerge from a work.
By visiting recently the Dali Theatre Museum in Figueres, his creative wealth took my breath away ! In all humility, I will not claim any influence. I try to assimilate the talent of others in order to build my own style, away from trends, with sincerity.
Today, I have in mind more than one year of projects. News is full of topics that might inspire me. My admiration for life and nature beauty reminds intact.
